Hello! Wow what a crazy month we have had being on lockdown here in NY and in the midst of a pandemic. I don’t want to dwell on it as I know that a lot of my lovely followers and readers use crochet/crafts as a way of switching off from the anxiety caused by recent events. However, I feel the need to mention it, just as a way of saying that I am in the same boat as most – at home with 3 kids trying to play a game of teacher (I liked doing that when I was younger – doesn’t have quite same appeal now) and juggling the housework and cooking – it doesn’t free up much time for yarn but I do somehow manage to squeeze some in – it helps me so much. If you’d like to see more of what I’m doing to keep my sanity, head on over to my Instagram page @loveandloop to see!
Anyway I seem to have massively digressed – I really just wanted to show you a new quick and easy pattern for some washcloths – these are oddly therapeutic – using up those odds and ends of cotton yarn from your stash and it also feels like a very useful thing to crochet right now – all the shortages of essentials in the supermarkets etc – it is nice to know that there is always a lovely reusable washcloth to make and use in these ‘apocalyptic-style’ times. These can be used for either household cleaning or for your skincare routine – just colour coordinate them so you dont cross them between uses.
I’ve used Lily Sugar n Cream 0001 white and 00042 Tea Rose (but you could use any worsted weight cotton).
Tension isn’t very important for this make; just try to crochet a ‘close’ crochet texture – if your tension is normally on the loose side i’d go down a hook size – these cloths will naturally loosen in time so a tighter tension is probably better!

Before lockdown, I found these to be a sweet little gift idea for when you turn up for lunch at a friend’s house – pop them in a little gift bag with a scented candle!
