Out now in Crochet Now magazine (issue 37) is this scarf I designed and made which features a modern twist on a classic favourite – houndstooth! (or, if you prefer, ‘dogstooth’). This issue is all about pets, cute creatures and taking inspiration from nature which is why I named this design the ‘Hounds of Love’ scarf!
I have always loved this timeless look (and I watch a lot of ‘Mad Men’ with my husband) so I wasn’t too surprised when the idea for this crochet scarf popped into my head! But instead of the iconic monochrome palette, I opted for sweet and trendy lilac to bring a fresh twist and a pop of colour! I’ve also combined the houndstooth stitch with some colour blocking – another style that is really in at the moment.
The houndstooth stitch is actually super easy and great for adding some texture to your crochet, however, if you turn to pages 64&65 of your magazine you will find a stitch masterclass by yours truly so you can really get to grips with it! Then over to pages 66&67 to find the pattern for the scarf which features a mix of colour blocking, stripes as well as the houndstooth stitch, of course!
And I must mention the divine yarn I used too; it’s a West Yorkshire Spinners BFL Aran and it works up so beautifully! All details in the magazine!
I also have to mention that I was so thrilled that this was featured on the front cover of the issue – crochet dreams come true!
